    I am doing an offline system update. After the xbox prepares for the update off of the usb stick the screen turns black. Does any one know what that means? Or does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Cameron, if he is showing this black screen it is because he is not able to do the reset keeping games and Apps.

    If it appears in the options menu, try to choose the reset that erase everything, if it also shows a black screen, you will have to do an offline reset.

    What do you mean it opens at your home screen and then nothing? Are you stuck on the dashboard or is it a black or green screen?

    If you are stuck on a black or green screen you can try the offline diagnostic tool that has helped people get passed the blank screen before:

    Mine updated while I was offline overnight and then when I tried to use it today had a black screen after the XBOX logo. Then I took time looking for an extra USB flash drive that I needed to do the t/s steps for,

    Yes I tried the offline system update tool. The update froze at 66% every time and went back to the black screen.
