Black Screen on playback of 4k UHD Blurays on Series X after a short period

I have had this issue since the Series X launched on November 10th 2020 and I'm going to include videos of it in action.

During playback of certain UHD blu-rays, for example Star Wars: New Hope, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Ghostbusters 2 the screen will go black. This with the LG CX 55 inch OLED TV with firmware 4.10.30.

With the film still playing in the background, I can still open up the Xbox guide, as well as the Blu-Ray menus to pause the film etc. but the video is still black. Removing the disk, clearing the persistent blu-ray cache, rebooting the Xbox are "fixes" I've tried but not always successful.

Playback is via the included HDMI cable with the Series X and I have also tried a different certified HDMI 2.1 cable and the issue still exists.

Playback is at 24 Hz which is the correct format for playback of 4k UHD Blu-rays. All my video playback settings make zero difference e.g. VRR on/off, 60Hz/120Hz etc.

I've tried reporting this issue to Microsoft through "Report a problem" on the Xbox, e-mail, twitter and so far I've never had any response. Is anyone from Microsoft actually reading this? It's been broken for 11 months! I feel really ripped off money wise. Gaming at 4K 120Hz works just fine. Never had a gaming issue!

Hope you're doing well despite your technology issues. Thank you for including your extensive troubleshooting, you mentioned that when you play UHD blu-rays your screen will go black but the film will still be playing in the background.

Reporting the problem immediately after the black screen will ensure the diagnostic data that is relevant to the problem is sent to the proper team for them to work on solving the issue. This forum is the best way to get a direct response in the future. However, continue to use the Report a Problem app to send the diagnostics whenever you have issues.

As for additional troubleshooting, our Troubleshooting a blank TV screen or monitor while your Xbox is on article has a section on troubleshooting screens turning blank after watching a Blu-ray disc. At the bottom of the page there is also "Request a repair," if you are unable to resolve the issue with any of the troubleshooting options on the page.

Spent 2 and a half hours after this last update ruined everything.

Fix for me:

Uninstall/reinstall BluRay App

Set playback to stereo (Temporarily)

Disable 24hz, Disable 50hz, Enable HDR, Disable Amp controlling playback (under bluray)

- Shutdown xbox

- Power on xbox

- start playing any Bluray/UHD BluRay.

- Aslong as this works, start turning on features again

- Rewind UHD to begining, set your surround sound/atmos/amp decode audio.

It doesn't support 4K UHD playback.

If you are referring to "Mastered in 4K" discs those are just 1080p titles made from a 4K master.

New hardware is required to playback UHD Blu-Ray.

I'm having similar issue with HDR content especially through 4K UHD Blu-ray playback. There seems to be no fix for past 10 months. This is very poor of Microsoft to ignore. Now that Xbox One X is out, it too have HDR issues with 4K UHD player & Netflix app.
