Black screen on original Xbox one

I have an original Xbox one that my son ha sheen using. A few weeks ago he upstaged it and now it will turn on but then will only display a black screen. I can use the controller to bring up the screen to shut down or restart/ turn controller off. But that’s it. Is there a patch or way to get around this? I’ve tried multiple times to hold down all sorts of button combos in outside of console with no luck. Help please?

We appreciate your coming to the Xbox community, and we're sorry you're having this issue. Usually, the solutions below can solve the problem, if not, I'm afraid it's a more serious problem, which would require a repair or replacement of the device.

Solution 1:

1. Turn off Xbox One.

2. Unplug power.

3. Plug the power back to Xbox One 30 seconds later.

4. Press and hold Bind and Eject at the same time (don't release).

5. Press and release the Power button, and then you will hear the startup chime.

6. When you hear the second startup chime, you can release the bind and eject buttons.

7. Select Reset this Xbox on the screen.

8. Select Keep games and apps.

Solution 2:

If the above solution doesn't work, try updating your console offline by following the instructions in the article below.

In the same boat as the above poster. Tried all methods as latest update black screened my Xbox one (original). What is going to be done or what to do in this event? Says I need to sign in from guide but screen stays black after Xbox start up screen. Only can pull up turn off restart options.

Do you have a Xbox One S or X, or do you have an original Xbox One with external power supply? If you have the original Xbox One, what color is the LED on the external power supply?

As I said in my original post, I tried different cables, different tv, and the reset method described. I reviewed the blank screen troubleshooter. Nothing has changed the status and as of today, the xbox one continues to display the splash screen and then
go black and silent.

Yeah i get a black screen too on my original Xbox One, but when I start the console offline, the dashboard shows up, so it makes me think it definitely has something to do with the service alert.
