    Hiya, I'm currently experiencing the 'black screen of death' with my xbox one. I've tried following all the remedies and fixes that I can find online, but nothing is helping? Obviously, I've tried the cable check, the switch on/off test and different TV etc. But one thing I'm noticing with all the fixes online, is that they can at least see some menus? I've tried the method with changing the resolution and I still have a black screen?? I cannot see anything on my TV at all, only that the TV is receiving some sort of signal (it tells me "no signal" if I disconnect the xbox or switch it off) and sometimes, not all, I can hear the menus clicking away, when I manipulate my controller. Is there a solution to fixing this?? As I'm getting very frustrated and feel like swapping to PS... Maybe... Please help! I love my xbox and don't really want to swap it! Thanks slight difference with mine, to all the fixes

    You may have already tried it, but did you try booting the console in low resolution mode? Instructions are here: -

    Look under "Your screen is blank after you turn on the console", then "Reset your display settings".

    If you've tried that, and you've tried a different HDMI cable, different HDMI port on the TV, and different TV, then it's possibly a hardware issue with the console. Maybe a faulty HDMI port or HDMI retimer chip. Obviously I can't say for sure.

    I had the same problem with an Xbox One X. The screen would sometimes go black for a second or so, then the image would come back, but eventually the screen went black and stayed that way. I could still hear sounds of me navigating around, but there was no image. It turned out to be a hardware issue, but thankfully the console was under warranty.

    Thanks pal, I'm UK too, Nottinghamshire. I'm gonna try Francia's suggestion quickly, i don't think I've seen the troubleshoot thing yet? I'll reply on the post to let people know if it worked, for future reference?

    Yeah, I've already tried it thank you. I'll give it another go but I think you're right regarding it being a hardware issue? Suppose it might be a good excuse to give my wife to upgrade to an xbox series X?? Haha
