Black blocks showing on screen during game

Hi I have an XSX I’m using a Samsung Neo QLED 75” 8K.

I have been having issues with intermittent 1-2 seconds black screen. I’ve followed all of Microsoft’s supports advice and got it exchanged by the retailer. But it’s back not as bad but definitely back, so now I’m thinking it’s a setting issue.

I installed Fallen order and when I got to one stage of the game I’m getting blocky black graphics. You’ll see the blocks in the sky and the floor these move rapidly

Any idea how I can sort it?

As you mentioned, I don't think two Xbox would be faulty too. This is probably a TV or Settings issue.

To test some settings, I would recommend you doing a physical reset on your Xbox display options:

If there's a disc in the console, eject it.

On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds to turn off the console. Unplug all cables from it, wait for 5 minutes and plug again.

Then, press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You’ll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. Don’t let go until you hear the second beep or see the console start up in low resolution mode (the Xbox startup screen will appear slightly pixelated).

In either case, this will start up your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To change this setting, press the Xbox button to open the guide. Go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options, and then select the resolution you want from the Display dropdown.

After this display reset, try changing resolutions, refresh rate, activating or not VRR, HDR, etc... and try to find what changes make the black blocks to go away or to start displaying.

Hey Lucas

So I’ve exchanged the Xbox for a new one. I’ve swapped the HDMI cables and ports, done a power cycle.

I have removed and reinstalled the game from game pass.

I’m guessing this might be a TV issue or possibly my settings aren’t right as I can’t see 2 Xboxes being faulty.

I’ve got to try a reset but haven’t had chance yet.

How long did you leave it for?

During a cold boot it will show the logo then black screen for up to a minute before the green boot screen shows up.
