Big problem that can impact your bank account!!!!!!

Was playing Forza 5 tonight and came to a point in the game that i was offered to buy a car in game. Chose the car and all of a sudden I was prompted to buy a package (mid game) for $49.99 of actual money. I went through the prompts and realized no security
code was needed to make purchase (i did not make the purchase for the expensive pack but did buy an individual car and was never asked for a password or my 3 digit pin on the back of my card). I called xbox about this issue but the customer support person
said this was normal as a password is needed to login to the account so there was no need to ask for a password to access my personal bank account. I find this to be a major issue that should be resolved . This gives the abilty for anyones child to simply
hit 2 buttons to make a purchase for hundreds of dollars. This needs to be stopped and a security feature really needs to be put in place. Please let this problem be heard!!!!! Does anyone else remember the problem apple had with the smurfs game and kids buying
hundreds of dollars worth of smurf berries on their parents accounts????? This could easily happen if your credit or debit card is linked to your xbox account!!!!!

I can´t purchase with my debit card and with paypal account.. and the telephone support only says that is problem of the bank or paypal, i call the bank and they say all is alright with your account... so ???? any help

You needed to cancel auto renew on your xbox account,not on your bank account.

You cannot remove your card on an active gold account ,without replacing it with another payment option,but you can turn off auto renew at any time.

If you left it on and told your bank not to allow payment,that`s where your problem lies.

I hope to one day see the wallet feature like the one built into windows phone on the Xbox one. Anytime a purchase is attempted the wallet security pops up first.

 

Agreed. A pin or password should need to be entered for every purchase.

 

Ummm, it does - if you go to "Settings > Sign-in, security & passkey". Check the box so that "purchase requires passkey". Am I wrong in that assumption?

 

No that can be done, I meant to add it should be required by default. We should have to uncheck the box if we don't want to use a password.

 

Actually LightSpeed, according to the ESA 2013 demographic stats, the average age of a gamer is 30. Therefore, since there are typically not accidental purchases on adult accounts the minority are the child accounts. I could completely understand the default
of being unchecked based solely on this stat, but as Lewis mentioned you simply need to check this option to ensure as passkey is required.

 

I haven't had any issues myself I just know how easy it is to make "accidental" purchases so I just thought by default it should be checked.
