Best way to set up a second Xbox One S

Have both assigned to your account, but set the family one to be your Home console.

You can set up other profiles on it for family to use and share your Gold etc.

You can then also play on the other one at the same time.

For you description up top, "share gold and games from your account with them so you don't have to be signed in", how do you share - is it because the games are associated with the Home Console and not specifically
the account logged in? In that case my kids could have separate accounts if they want to play games and use my account to watch/stream movies. Is that correct? Would they need to have my email password to log in or just the console password?

Yes, the console logs off because you're logging into the second console with the same log in. Setting up a second account (they would need a different email and password for that account) would stop that from happening.

When you buy digital content you're given 2 licenses, a console license and an account license. The account license is what allows your account to sign into any console and redownload your content without having to purchase it again. The console license
allows anyone else to access your content on the console that has that licence, which is done through the Home setting. So for example, if you were the only one using the bedroom console and your wife/son are primarily using the family console (on a separate
account), you would set the family console as your Home. You can then sign into the bedroom console and have access to all of your content without logging them out, but they would still be able to access your gold subscription and digital content from their
account. They can still use their account on your bedroom (non-Home console), but they would not have access to your digital games/gold but can still sign in and use apps and content they have purchased. In that scenario, you would not need to change your
Home console multiple times. The setting would only really need to be changed if you had to get a new family console.

You did mention disc games. Those cannot be shared via the Home setting as the disc needs to be in the drive to verify licensing. So you wouldn't be able to play those games at the same time on either console unless you had 2 copies of the game. Otherwise,
for anything digital, on the Home console, any other accounts would be able to sign into their account and they'll see any games you've downloaded in their Games and Apps as if they had downloaded it themselves.

The device downstairs uses my account since it has been configured to show the Disney Plus channel and Amazon Prime. Since we were not sure that Disney plus would be available on our Blu-ray player (it did not update with it) or on my Amazon Fire, I broke
down and purchased an Xbox One S. To my son's delight. Up to this point, my games were all run on the PC. The quality of the streaming video and since the Xbox was being updated, I decided to go that route instead of purchasing a Roku device. It also
supported backward compatibility with my son's Xbox 360. So it was a great choice. In fact I was so impressed I purchased a second one.

About 85% of the time, my wife is streaming video content, although she does not like the game pad interface for watching video/Blu-rays.

So I do not think making a Home Console really is the best since you can only switch back and forth 5 times. If I am understanding that correct. Again, both of my consoles are less than 5 months old and the second one is still in the box. So I am a real
newbie regarding the Xbox and my questions may seem very basic.

What I think I might need to do is the following:

• Create a second account and use it to set up the second Xbox
• Install the applications for Disney and Amazon, etc.. The downside is Disney has a limit on the number of devices. I am unsure of Amazon, but I have at least somewhere between 6 and 10.
• If I want to play games upstairs, continue using the PC or install the discs with the games.
  • I currently do not see a way to link the second console to use the games associated with my account.

Anyone else who is using the family console should have their own account. You can set that console as your Home console in order to share gold and games from your account with them so you don't have to be signed in. Then you can sign into the bedroom console
without effecting the family console.
