Becoming an Xbox gamer

I’m not sure why the experts aren’t allowed to give out this information but I’ll do by best to explain everything regarding your question. I believe a lot of people aren’t aware about this either, the service could be advertised better in my opinion.

You’ll need to apply through Directly, which is a customer support service for a number of other brands too.

You can help others remotely (you don’t need to go in to an office or even have a computer, simply just a smartphone). It works on a self employed contract, where you can work in your own time and receive rewards and get paid for helping out.

So every time you ask a question on the Xbox support website and message an ‘Xbox gamer’, it’s through Directly. You may have also seen ‘Independent Advisors’ around here on the forum, they answer questions sent to them through Directly and don’t work for Microsoft.

Note: Experts are accepted if and when needed, you’ll receive an email once you’re accepted as an expert but you won’t be notified if you’re not successful.

You’ll also have to complete a “skill test” and “expert orientation course”, as well as why you want to apply and how you can help. How you answer these questions will determine your position on the wait list and the type of questions sent to you.

I would definitely recommend considering this, you just have to be patient as unfortunately the application process can take a while. The amount of time it takes to be approved depends on the quality and completeness of your application.

You’re already an Xbox Ambassador which is great to share your Xbox knowledge, ideas and experience with others so I would say you’re halfway there

Just to confirm and so there’s no misunderstanding, you can’t apply to be an Xbox expert through the Microsoft careers website, unless you’re interested in becoming a Microsoft employee.
