BC Issue - Bully Scholarship - please advise

In an effort to relive a small part of my childhood I bought Bully on the BC program two days ago and I've been having a few minor issues with it, one of which has now escalated to game breaking levels and is stopping me progressing any further in the game.

The issue I've been having is that whenever I am required to repeatedly press "Y" nothing happens, initially I just avoided situations where button mashing is required and that was fine to begin with. The issue has now made it impossible to progress as I
am on the mission to rescue Johnny from the asylum and I can't lift the flipping gate! I've checked a different controller and I still had the same issue.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Backwards Compatible game won't show on my Xbox One library

I can't access my digital copy of Bully Scholarship Edition on my Xbox One even though it's. BC. I bought it on Xbox 360 where it shows in my account.

 

360-Are there any rare titles?

That's an odd issue that I haven't seen or personally experienced. Do you have your controller wired or is it wireless? If you can, I would try a wired connection to see if there's any change.. If you're still having trouble, it may be worth trying an uninstall
and reinstall to see if that helps clear up the trouble.
