Banned for one curse word at a griefer?

Well my last thread was locked for some reason... I guess asking for answers in annoying? Anyway, during a game of NHL 19, a teammate was being a complete meanie (am i still allowed to say meanie? I know Xbox is now kiddie hour.) He completely ruined the
game for everyone--intentional offsides whenever he didn't have the puck, calling for goalie passes with the other team crowding the net, then he quit with under a second left, costing me XP. I sent one four-letter word to him. He reports me for... swearing,
I guess? I report him for griefing and quitting early. I get banned, he doesn't. Why does someone's ACTUAL harmful behavior go unpunished, while a naughty word is a ban? It's just a word. It's not a slur, I wouldn't say things like that. It's an exclamation
of frustration, and the guy deserved it.

I've been called every name you can think of on xbox. In text messages, even. Racial and sexual slurs... you know the words I mean. I've reported these, and the people weren't banned. I know this because I saw the same people in the same game hours later.
But I swear once and I am banned within 5 minutes? And why did it say 24 hour ban when it lasted 28 hours? None of this makes sense. Am I to understand that any bad, trolling, griefing behavior, any racial slurs are ok, as long as you don't swear?

I got banned from some kids for communication and harrsment and abuse and thearts but it was over a game i killed one of them by mistake. but said sorry to one of them for killing them but i said curse word but they started annoying me by saying i was stupid
over and over again but then i texted them thdy where gonna get banned as a joke and because but before i said the curse word they said block him and because of my reputation on my profile i said the curse word and i just left them alone but then i got banned
so i reported them for reporting me for no reson and then i got a second ban but i shouldnt have said the curse word but why would i get banned for harrassmen and abuse but the threats i think it was about me texting about about banning them but i said it
was in six weeks who would believe. that these. kids where smart but they should have got a ban i didnt do anything bad they like 12

I guess a head getting blown off is okay, but the video I posted of the guy freaking out at his xbox and using a curse word got me banned for 3 months. Kinda odd

 

Threads are usually locked after they've been answered. It doesn't matter how a situation starts. If you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct, you can be punished, and profanity is a violation of the code of conduct. It doesn't mean that
what the other person does is also allowed. As long as you report them, the enforcement team will investigate them as well and take appropriate action. In situations like that, it's best to just report the other person and block communications with them.
