Bad Serial number - Xbox one s controller

Hi there if you were to contact support directly they can validate your warrenty over the phone

As long as your console is registered under My devices the support rep can validate your controller via your console

As the controller will be connected to it. I'm not 100% sure if its instant or if you would of needed to have it connected for more than 48hrs total for it to validate but the support rep can clarify that.

If the options do not allow you to call support you can get around it by selecting "try our virtual agent" when it asks you "how can I help" simply put in "talk to an agent" and it will arrange a call back for you

So there is no 12 digit serial number like on the Xbox One and Kinect? Maybe you're right though as it doesn't say how to find the number for a controller at the following link, so maybe it's not able to be registered:

If the controller is within warranty it should offer an option to repair the controller. To find the serial number you will need to remove the batteries and the serial number would be the number on the bottom of the bar code.

Note: Standard Xbox One Controllers usually run on a 90-day warranty.
