Backwards compatible games and dvds won’t work

So I have a Xbox one and I used to be able to watch normal dvds and play backwards compatible 360 games on it. Lately though it won’t work at all. Xbox one games will play and Blu-ray dvds will play. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting suggestions that I’ve found and nothing has worked. What should I do? Does anyone else have this issue?

Sorry about your problem there. I take it that normal DVD's won't play now either? If the answer to that is yes, then I'm afraid your console's Optical drive has a fault.

There are two lasers in the Xbox One. The red laser is for DVD's and Xbox 360 game discs (360 games are on DVD) and a Blue laser for Blu-ray discs (Xbox One games are on BD discs).

Unfortunately Microsoft no longer repairs the original Xbox One. Only the Xbox One S and One X can still be repaired. You'll need a new console if you want to play BC games on disc.

Seems like DVD and the xbox 360 backwards compatible games only, blueray works fine.

Hi, lots of backwards compatibility games are not available for download via the Xbox Store. And in such a case, those games that are in BC only work from CDs / DVDs.

Yes but if the drive has a hardware issue, no BC disc games will work, or DVD movies.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with backwards compatible games. Usually the region will work for any DVD/Blu-ray movies on the Xbox. As far as backwards compatibility game there is a process we enable with the developer to enable
them for backwards compatibility.
