  1. Backwards Compatibility Purchasing Issues

As you all may know, the Ultimate Game Sale was this past week. I found out that Red Dead Redemption was on sale and it was being added to the backward compatibility list for Xbox One. So I went to the store and got a Xbox Live gift card worth $20 dollars
in anticipation of getting that, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Jet Set Radio. When I got back home I added my gift card and proceeded to go to the Xbox Live Store, via Xbox One. This is when I found out, you cannot use store credit as a payment method currently
for Xbox 360 backwards compatible games. I can understand that this may not be an option that the engineers have implemented into the system, but I can't even purchase them using store credit on the website. The only way, it seemed, to be able to purchase
360 games, is on Xbox 360. Now...the reason why I would be buying backwards compatible games for Xbox One, is so that I can play them, on Xbox One. If I have a Xbox 360 to purchase the games from, why wouldn't I just play the BC games on the 360? They sell
you on the fact that you can move from Xbox 360 to Xbox One seamlessly and that is nowhere near the case, especially in this regard.

After discovering this I contacted support because I was hoping there was some sort of way they could credit me for the games or ANY alternative to basically having to find other games to buy. Keep in mind I am a HUGE gamer. I have over 70 digital games
in my Game Library for Xbox One including BC games I already have owned digitally. So it's kind of hard to find games that I actually want to buy anymore because I have collected most of them over time. I got disconnected by my first rep (Alvin) that I spoke
with, and the second rep (Aster) didn't even give me a straight answer. When asking, "So there is nothing I can do other than find somebody with a 360 to purchase the games?", the rep kept telling me that I could buy the games on Xbox One if I have a credit
card. The manager of that rep told me the exact same thing. She tells me that she could do absolutely nothing (in those words), and that I should post a topic on the support message board, hence me posting now. The manager's name is Kristtiana or something
similar to that. I also was told to find other games to possibly try and buy because theres a ton of content in the Xbox Live Store. Great, so now I just have to make due with something that obviously should work.

I don't think that its fair at all that there aren't any disclaimers about this caveat with store credit anywhere, including on the Backwards Compatibility website. I thought that store credit didn't come up before, because I didn't have any. That's what
happens on Xbox One if I'm not mistaken. It doesn't show your Microsoft Store Wallet unless you have money to use, in it. So that's a bit deceiving. And to basically be given the runaround and be told there's absolutely nothing that can be done....It makes
me want to take all of these games AND system back and just trade it in. I found myself becoming a diehard Xbox fan since the release of the Xbox One and for the most part I love the system. But if the company doesn't care when things go wrong, I might as
well have a PS4. I literally sold my Xbox 360 along with the library of games I had, just to have the best that Microsoft offered. I don't have to talk about the way we were misled on BC in the first place in this thread. Because that's a dupe too. I had
plenty of backwards compatible games and sold them to get money to put toward my XB1 because at the time, Microsoft claimed that backwards compatibility had no possibility of coming to XB1, so I said what's the point in having these games I can't even play?
Only to have BC get announced later in the console cycle.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get my games but as I said, I have a lot of games. The main thing that makes me upset with this deal is that I can tell like the support staff doesn't even care about misunderstandings or any types of shades of grey. It's
black and white. So if support can't actually SUPPORT you when you need help...what's the point in having the service? The way that this whole thing was handled, is very shady. I own all types of Microsoft products and it's making me second guess on if
I should continue to buy products from you at this point. Whether it's dealing with my xbox or my pc I never get the support I'm looking for. And features that seem like no brainers are left out and make things less user friendly. Now I've wasted 20 dollars
because there isn't any other games I want for the time being. Regardless of if you feel that's a little or a lot of money, its still money with value and should be respected.

If anybody else had an issue like this, please help me out and yourselves by leaving your experience in this thread.

    :)

  2. Sonic demo isn't working?

    Hey there freakyboy86,

Backwards Compatibility only works for full titles that are available on the backwards compatibility list. Game Demos are not included in the backwards compatibility feature. If you want to try a specific Xbox 360 game out before purchasing and downloading,
you will need to download the demo on an actual Xbox 360 console.

    Happy Gaming!

    Backwards Compatibility Purchasing Issues

To purchase a Xbox 360 game on the website or Xbox One, you need a valid payment option such as a PayPal account or a credit/debt card.

Xbox 360 does not have this requirement and can use credit directly, like the Xbox One can with One games.

  5. You clearly didn't read the part where I said I understand how the system works. My question is WHY is it that way? There's no differentiation made when you buy the Xbox Live Gift Card or anywhere on the website, right?

    Purchase The Orange Box

The game is definitely backwards compatible. There have been a lot of people having issues with purchasing backwards compatible games from the site, but I haven't seen a solution yet. Unfortunately the only other way around it is purchasing it from a 360.

trying to play "Project Gotham Racing" version 2 on an xbox 360s console;- help needed!

Are you able to test any other backwards compatible games?

Generally issues with backwards compatible games on the 360 is down to the hard drive. A lot of third party purchases of hard drives tend to result in the hard drive being a knock off which will not work with backwards compatibility.

No one will help me get this game running.

Are you using an official MS brand hard drive or was it purchased separately from a 3rd party or used? Are you able to test any other backwards compatible games?

Typically issues with backwards compatible games on the 360 are due to the hard drive. There are a lot of knock off drives out there and they will not run backwards compatible titles.
