Backwards Comoatibility stopped working after gamertag change

After originally creating my account, 360 games worked fine with the backwards compatibility on my Xbox one. After changing my gamertag from the first one generated for me, my profile is no longer recognized by my 360 games. The menu prompts me to re-download
my profile, however when I do, it gives me 2 different profiles to choose from, neither of which are my account. As such, I am unable to play any 360 games, whereas I was able to with no problems previously. I've looked on multiple forums and it appears no
one has a solution that works. Any help would be appreciated!

So resetting the devices fixed it, and then it stopped working after awhile? Did anything change between when you reset and when it stopped working?

Microsoft stopped working on backwards compatability patches in late 2007.

It is true that you must delete and redownload your profile after changing the tag name. However, you must do this while in the BC menu. Please follow the instructions linked below to do this.

In order to play backwards compatible titles after a gamertag change, all you would need to do is re-download your profile from the Xbox 360 Menu on a backwards compatible title. That should fix it.

If the Gamertag change was free, people would change their Gamertags every few seconds. The fee is there to stop people from doing that and cover costs. When you created your account, You were offered one free gamertag change, after that you must pay. This applies to everyone.

Create a gamertag that doesn't violate the code of conduct and they will stop asking you to change it. Also keep in mind, after so many forced name changes, they will ban your account.

For now they stopped the backwards compatible game since the main focus is the next console. After that the backwards compatible games will continue.
