Backward Compatibility: My Personal Issues

Okay, here's the deal: I own a lot of XBox 360 games. Not one of them is a game re-released for XBox One. Only ONE of my 360 games are backward compatible. That means I have several games that I can no longer play! For example: I own the entire Final
Fantasy XIII trilogy. I personal enjoyed the entire collection, but it isn't on the list. Lost Odyssey (a much older game),however, is. Can someone please explain this in a way I can understand?

I wonder if Galleon will ever make the list of backwards compatible games?

I can’t imagine that it’s a priority for the backwards compatibility team but it’s a personal favourite of mine.

Hi,

Firstly, it's up to the publisher what game/s get made backwards compatible. They have to give the go-ahead to Microsoft to get ' the ball rolling', as it were. Secondly, and indeed, more importantly, making an Xbox 360 game work on the Xbox One isn't
as simple as the publisher agreeing and then Microsoft pressing a few buttons (an exaggeration), and it's done, the game is playable. It's more complicated than that.

To run Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, all games on the service have to be reverse engineered and reprogrammed to run on the console. This is why, even when you have a BC game on disc, there is a download from Xbox Live,. The system say's it's an update, but
in actual fact, the update IS the game. The game, reprogrammed to the run on the Xbox One hardware.

This process takes long time to complete. With Microsoft checking the game for performance and stability. This is why not all of your games (or indeed, my games yet) are backwards compatible. Some games can never be made BC due to licensing issues.
