    Audio throughput for external devices

    Hi there,

    Got an absolute doozy of a suggestion for the product team: Would it be possible to expand what devices are recognised as audio input so I can listen to records while playing Xbox?

    I'm sure I'm in the minority these days but I still use my Xbox as a media centre. I quite like how intuitive it is to mix audio from a CD with game audio. It'd be amazing if it could be the metaphorical "single pane of glass" for these analogue external devices as well.

    The current audio setup I'm working with is:

    Xbox Series X -> HDMI -> TV -> 3.5mm jack -> Monitors

    And then if I want to listen to a record I'll just switch it to

    AT-LP60XUSB -> 3.5mm jack -> Monitors.

    The issue here is that you only get one or the other (as well as having to play around with cables and switching devices on and off multiple times)

    What my target experience would be is:

    AT-LP60XUSB -> USB-B to USB-A -> Xbox Series X -> HDMI -> TV -> 3.5mm jack -> Monitors

    Poking around in the Xbox settings, I can see there's a lot of similar audio settings to what I'd use in Windows to get the same effect (turn on microphone monitoring and mix accordingly). From what I understand, there's a whole bunch of restrictions on the system which block users from connecting USB headsets (I mean I guess it makes sense if it's connected to your controller, but I don't see the point of these restrictions on the console itself).

    I'm sure there's a few other people with similar setups out there who just want to play Skate or Powerwash Simulator while listening to their favourite LP or cassette. Liberate the USB ports! Analogue forever!

    :)

    XBOX ONE MEDIA PLAYER

    Same Problem here, I have 2 external hard drives (both USB 3,0).

    Videos with higher Bitrate dont Play smooth, stuttering and skipping in Video and Audio.

    USB Ports dont have enough throughput (BUG ?)

    Media from an external USB?

    Cool down a bit mate :)

    The mediaplayer which will support external USB devices is coming with the September update to Xbox One. It will support external USB 2.0 devices with audio and movie files.

    Has anyone been using a seagate backup plus fast?

    I just want to add that Randver is wrong. The internal drive on the XB1 is on a SATA II connection and SATA II has a max throughput of 300 MB/s and USB 3.0 has a max throughput of 650 MB/s, so in this case SATA is not faster than USB 3 and an external USB
    3 drive will be generally faster than SATA II.

    Audio question

    if you are going to take the audio from the tv to the amp then make sure your tv supports surround throughput as most flat screen tv's only output dolby stereo via optical

    I was wandering if i can download games into a USB drive because I have no more space on SSD

    Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is welcome to the community.

    Hello Curtvan, being on Xbox One or PC, ideally using an external disk for this, external discs have a higher throughput than USB thumb drives.

    The recommendation is that it be at least USB 3.0
