    Audio Issue with LotR 4K UHD Blu-Rays (Dolby Atmos)


    Is anyone else currently experiencing Dolby Atmos issues with the Lord of the Rings 4K Blu-Ray disc set? Specifically, with this trilogy, the Dolby Atmos on my AV receiver appears to have issues when using my Xbox Series X to play the movies. The Audio is somehow getting corrupted.

    Here is a video of the audio issues I'm experiencing. It appears to only do this with the new LotR 4K disc. All of my 30 other 4K blu-rays run just fine. It is just specifically the LotRs movies.

    I did suspect that the discs could be bad however that isn't the case because I just bought a new 4K Sony blu-rays player to see if the discs were bad in another player and now the Dolby atmos is fine. Because of this, I've narrowed it down to something either software or hardware related with the Xbox. Most likely software because other blu-rays Dolby Atmos content is fine. Something with the audio encoding of the LotRs movies must be causing some issue.

    My current setup is below:

    Bluray player: Xbox Series X with Blu-ray App

    TV: LG 55" GX OLED (OLED55GXPUA)

    AV Reciever: Yamaha RX-V781

    Sony blu-ray player (used for testing discs in another player): Sony UBP-X800M2

    Xbox Series X is connected directly to the TV using HDMI 2.1 cables and the AV receiver via HDMI from the TV's eARC port to the receiver. Dolby Atmos works perfectly with this setup on most blu-ray, Xbox (other than above), and Apple TV content, which is connected to the set up in the same manner.

    The Xbox is also setup correct for Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Access app is installed and the necessary Xbox Audio settings applied for proper Dolby Atmos content.

    Important NOTE: I've also tested a different Xbox as well and encountered the same issue. I also tried my Xbox One X and have the exact same problem. So it definitely feels like a software related issue with the blu-ray app since my Series X and One X have the same problem.

    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Dolby vision in the Netflix app

    I have an LG oled c7 and watch netflix trough webOs .

    By doing it this way you should get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

    Microsoft will roll out an sofware update for netflix Dolby Vision shortly.

    For the moment Dolby Vision is not supported on the Netflix app via Xbox.

    I hope they also update the blu ray player shortly because there is much more content available on 4k uhd blu ray.

    Atmos not Working in Bluray App

    I have this same problem. I'm not getting the Atmos Bitstream from UHD Blu Ray discs. Games aren't a problem and the demo videos from the Atmos App work fine, i.e. my receiver shows Dolby Atmos. But when I play a UHD Disk from the Blu Ray app, it defaults
    to Dolby TrueHD. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed this down to an issue with the Blu Ray player App. The only thing I haven't tried, which I will tonight, is to uncheck the "Let my Receiver Decode" check box. Which shouldn't fix the problem, but I'll try it
    anyway.

    Dolby atmos not working

    Do you have a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver, sound bar, or speaker system? If you do, have you changed the settings within 'Disc & Blu-ray settings' on your Xbox One to enable 'Let my receiver decode audio'? Currently Dolby Atmos is only supported within
    the Blu-ray app for Dolby Atmos compatible Blu-Ray movies.

    The Xbox One S 4K Blu-Ray Player Is A Disaster...Good Job!!

    There are a number of AV issues with the Xbox One S/X and UHD Blu-ray playback, your guess is as good as mine if they will be fixed.

    Certain UHD titles are broken and will not play.

    Dolby Atmos is unreliable.

    4K AV receiver HDMI handshaking issues.

    Image quality issues, the wrong color matrix being used in Blu-ray playback (see review comparison

    in link    ).

    They could have broken something on the One S in their rush to fix the broken Blu-ray HDR on the One X with the 10.0.16299.4037 that includes said HDR fix.

    Xbox One S Dolby Atmos Support

    Hi guys i have just bought a dolby atmos sound bar but now the 4k blu ray says no hdr device.

    The picture is much worse as minus hdr but the sound is very decent.

    My set up is

    tv 55 sony xe90

    xbox one S

    sony ht xf9000 dolby atmos virtual surround bar and sub woofer

    + 4k blu ray.

    all cables 2.0 hdmi.

    Any ideas why now it wont play 4k blu ray in HDR?
