attempting to boot up any game installed via xbox pc app my pc will not boot up the game...

Microsoft collects a whole host of privacy-invasive data if you're just booted into windows, and makes it near-impossible to turn them all off.

Aside from that though, dual-booting is just very inconvenient. You don't boot up your pc to either play xbox games, or play steam games and do everything else; you switch between them all. Installing the basic apps on both OS's (discord, chrome, etc) to try and mitigate that ends up clogging the system, specially with how much more space apps, and the OS in general, tend to take up on windows compared to Linux. I ended up deleting my windows partition because it was just taking up space and collecting dust for the few months I was dual-booting.

The lack of pc/linux support from xbox is a shame. It was a big draw to getting games on xbox for me since it increased portability.

As a follow up, If I even install the hyper-v role my pc wont boot.

Try checking to see if your laptop/pc needs an update, if not i would suggest resetting your laptop and boot it back up and attempt to download the game again

Can't seem to edit my post above, so I'm replying to this thread.

Btw, this issue on mine started when I pre-loaded my Windows 10 PC with Recore before release. Then on the release day, I boot up Recore before the day 1 patch got installed. It either quit immediately upon showing the application border, or like now, it
quit after showing my Gamer Tag on the lower left screen of the game. Since then I am not able to play on a PC.

I am able to play on the Xbox One fine. After many attempt to boot up Recore on the PC, the Xbox One version of the game complained about a corrupted save game was found and deleted it. Other than that one time event, game existing save game works fine on
Xbox One.

Ok, let's try something different, try to do a clean boot on your PC, and then open any games, or try to install them from the xbox app.

clean restart on your PC, what that do is to prevent any 3rd party apps that might be blocking the gaming services and also gamepass app to work.

Right-click the Start button.

Click Search.

Type msconfig and hit Enter on your keyboard.

Click Services.

Click the checkbox next to Hide all Microsoft services.

Click Disable all.

Click Startup.

Click Open Task Manager.

Click any startup program you suspect might be interfering.

Click Disable. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for all startup programs.

Click the X to close Task Manager.

Click OK in the System Configuration window.

Restart your PC.

Once your PC restarts, only the essentials will boot. If you were having issues with a program or update, try to launch or install while in the clean boot environment. If the problem persists, you'll know that you don't have a software conflict and the problem lies elsewhere.

If the problem doesn't show up while in a clean boot, you can now attempt to find the offending program or service. The best way to do so is to repeat steps 1-5 above, but re-enable half of the services.
