Attempted firmware update for xbox one controller led to an unresponsive controller

I didn't have this problem personally but I browsed some forums and this advice seemed pretty good. Maybe it will work for you.

My controller died during an update and would not turn on no matter what I did.

I fixed this issue by using a known good USB -> Micro USB cable from my phone charger, and fresh batteries in the controller (do NOT assume your cable is okay - try another one if you have it). Turn off the Xbox One and unplug it for a minute or two. In
the meantime, plug in the controller using the USB to the side port (probably any port will do, but that's the one I used). Plug the console back in and turn it on using the button on the console, not the controller. After a minute, the light on my non-functioning
controller lit up and all was good to go.

same issue for me. was using Xbox One controller on laptop fine for months, via bluetooth. Needed to use it as second controller on by Xbox series X which prompted to update the controller firmware. Now trying to use the controller on my laptop again it is unresponsive. It is paired and connects fine in the bluetooth device list and shows in device manager with no issues, but the controller doesn't do anything and is no detected by the accessories app or any applications like the xbox app for remote play or xcloud. Looks like the controller firmware upgrade has killed is as far as my laptop is concerned

Update Controller page. Note, you are able to update the controller from an Xbox One as well as a PC so you should be able to get this done on your computer. Hope this helps!

Thanks for responding and keeping us updated. If you believe that the firmware on the controller may be what the issue is, in going through the troubleshooting as recommended by XBF Chris, did you attempt to update the firmware of the controller? If not,
then I recommend using the Update your Xbox One Controller support article to attempt to do so to ensure that this isn't
what is causing havoc with your controller's performance. If this doesn't achieve the desired results, then please continue to exhaust all troubleshooting steps from the article recommended by XBF Chris, as it does have information in it concerning a warranty
exchange if necessary.

It works well. The only thing that doesnt work after updating the firmware is the xbox charger. The usb connection is on, but the cable doesnt show up the orange led to charge the battery.

I tried every way and found with the new controller that i bought the reason.

new controller: version 3.2 if i remember . Working well

new controller with new firmware: 4.8

Not charging anymore.
