    Atmos MKV Problem


    Hi, So I bought finally Xbox One S and wanted it to play Dolby Atmos Movies from external hdd. But it doesn't. Everything is connected correctly, I get atmos from trailers on dolby access app but when I play any atmos movie from external hdd then I get no
    sound at all. Of course if I change to PCM soundtrack then it works but not with Atmos. Im using Movies & TV app, any ideas?

    Dolby atmos detection

    I have the same issue on my newly bought One S.

    The Dolby Atmos app plays Atmos demos fine.

    However, Film & TV doesn't.

    I downloaded demo Atmos files (.mkv, with HEVC video) and put them on an external drive, that I connected to the Xbox. The Film & TV app will play the videos fine, but won't play the Atmos sound track, even though I have bitstreaming and Atmos turned on
    in the Xbox settings.

    If the files have an AC3 track, then that gets played, otherwise there is no sound.

    Decoding Dolby HD Atmos 7.1?

    Hi all

    I am planning to buy the XBox One X upon its release, but first I need to know if it does decode Dolby True HD and Dolby HD Atmos 7.1 from X265 and X265 (incl. 10bit) MP4 and MKV files.

    When so, to what format is the audio decoded?

    I own a Samsung KS8000 (which does not support Atmos) and do not have a seperate receiver.

    It seems that the Movie&TV app doesn't have the proper Atmos Decoder for an Atmos audio track muxed into an MKV. So unfortunately, the only way to get Atmos is to use original BluRay discs with an Atmos audio track.

    Happens with MP4, Mkv and Avi I'm pretty sure. Never had the problem on 360 though.

    I will ask you to test something first to see if the issue lies with the mkv files or the hard drive.

    Can you try to put a mkv file on a USB Flashdrive and try to reproduce it with one of the three programs you wrote?

    Also, what codec are these mkv files using and how big are they?

    *maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

    Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

    No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

    I don't know if is intentional.
