    Hello im tying to download dungeon seige 3 since its free at the moment from the xbox website since i currently do not have a working 360. Although whenever i try to download it requires me to add a payment method for a free game which would require me to
    add a credit card which is a problem since i only use prepaid cards. I was hopping there is a permanant solution to this because i dont want to run into this again every time i want to get a backwards compatible game.

    Currently, only one offer requires a specific method of payment to complete, which is the First Time Purchase offer. That offer requires you to make your first purchase using your Microsoft Account as the payment method. Otherwise, payment method is not
    a factor, although you must make the payment in your Rewards Account's regional currency (GBP).

    Brammster,

    The website requires payment method as it is a marketplace. Although the games are FREE, the store allows us to "purchase" them at a price of $0.00. Doing so means we need a payment method on file to "purchase" these $0.00 games. The only way to bypass having
    a payment method registered is to download them straight from an Xbox 360 console.

    Download it from the console and you won't need a payment method.

    The website has not been updated to work with the new currency system yet. So it requires a payment method to be on file in order to make purchases, even if it's free.

    LIVE Gold subscriptions purchased on the console require the payment method to remain on file for the duration of the subscription. It might be possible that the person you talked to thought you wanted to cancel your subscription in addition to removing
    your payment method. In any event, you'd have to call Phone Support back to get a refund of some kind. Sorry for the confusion!
