At a complete loss with Minecraft parent settings, how is it meant to work?

I've been trying this for a while now and each time given up but finally found time to get on here and ask this question. I'll try and list out what i've done but it's been so confusing and it seems nothing works together.

So on the PS5 he wanted to play Minecraft online with his friends, so using the on screen instructions we scan the QR code to sign in using an android phone. We needed to create an account first which we did using his gmail account. I then had to verify that given his age which I did using my gmail account. This took several attempts as the codes kept saying expired. Finally completed it and his name popped up on my Family Management app on my iphone.

Go back to the PS5 and Minecraft game, follow the on screen instructions to sign him in, finally worked and he is in. Now he goes to open the game and it says Multiplayer Restrictions are blocking him from playing.

All the articles online say open the Games/Apps tab on the Family Management app but there is not such tab or page on the iphone app. I see his name, open his settings and Minecraft is not listed. Some areas are suggesting I need to connect a device but when you follow that route it's asking for Windows device or xbox etc., nothing for PS5. How on earth are you meant to allow access on a PS5 account, it's a minefield with no suitable answers?

Hi again.

In a few words to make it easy to understand, an Xbox account is basically the same as a Microsoft account, so the link to change the account privacy options is the one I mentioned before. It is true that it can be confusing because the URL is from Xbox but this applies to the Microsoft account in general.

This will change the privacy of the Microsoft account used in Minecraft on PS5 and remove multiplayer restrictions, even if you don't have an Xbox console.

In order for a minor to play Minecraft online without restrictions, you must go to the following page, log in with your account and modify the minor's privacy settings (assuming that they are already in the same Microsoft family where you are an administrator):

https://account.xbox.com/settings

You must select the minor's profile and then set the following options to "Allow":

* You can play with people who are not part of Xbox Live.
* You can create and join clubs.
* You can join multiplayer games.
* You can add friends.

This procedure works the same if he is playing Minecraft on a PS5 console since the restrictions are placed by the privacy settings of the Microsoft account.

Thanks but may I ask why xbox is in the URL when I'm trying to gain him access to Minecraft on a PS5 with a Microsoft account?

There is a Minecraft article that tackles the topic about managing parental consent, settings, and realms/multiplayer access. Navigate to the parental controls section and make sure you completed the steps under "Account set up to enable...access realms" which is about halfway down the page. The page also includes screenshots of the settings.

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're having issues with your Minecraft Realms Subscription is that correct? I suggest you log into your parental account and adjust the settings to be able to complete purchases
for the child account. You can then complete the purchase from his account itself. After you can always place the restriction back in place so no more purchases can be made. You just need to sign into the parental account and go to your "Account" settings.
Select where it says "Family" and adjust the settings for the desired account. Let us know with a reply how it goes.
