is DMZ safe for xbox live?

    Hey there TheNutz!

This router is very reliable and therefore it sounds odd to me that this would be caused by the ASUS RT-N66U (Dark Knight) router. The likelihood that someone would hack your Xbox through the DMZ should be regarded as very small. However, Expose a device
through the DMZ always carries out a risk.

Appreciate if you could post up the make and model of your modem.

Make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware. Visit ASUS and make sure your have the very latest version of firmware for your specific model.

Some ASUS router models comes with UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) enabled as default. Could you make sure this feature is enabled. Turn off DMZ and Virtual Server. Do not forget to apply changes and reboot your router. Restore your Xbox network settings to
    obtain IP and DNS automatic.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

Like the others, no internet connection

    ISP is Metrocast.

DMZ and static IP did nothing for it. And I have reset (completely) the Asus unit and let it run an Autoconfig wizard (aside from the passwords). Still nothing.

I can't completely reset the Arris unit, as it's also the modem and keeps restoring the settings via Metrocast.

is DMZ safe for xbox live?

DMZ should not be needed for this router. Are you suffering from "drifting" NAT even with the Xbox configured with DHCP Reservation, and only UPnP enabled? You can also try (as a temporary solution) disable the firewall on the ASUS router.

Is the firewall on your Virgin Media Super Hub turned off?

Xbox One NAT settings keep changing.

    Greetings Tomello!

Who advice you to place the Asus router in the DMZ of your TG862?

This is not a proper setup!

You have to setup the TG862 to be operating in bridge mode. This mode can only be configured from your ISP's end (Comcast).

Post back and let us know how that goes.
