  1. Astro A50 - Dolby Atmos reverb only on XBOX Consoles

    Hello insiders,

there has been a problem on XBOX One and Series consoles since the Astro A50 USB update was released. If the headset is in "USB-Mode" connected with the console (without SPDIF/optical connection) there is an echo/reverb of certain noises and tones at regular intervals. These are very annoying and also generally disrupt the audio in games. This also occurs independently of the game. Astro has been ignoring this issue for many months (guess since this only occurs on XBOX consoles). The problem never occurs on my PC, only on the XBOX One X (when I use USB only) and XBOX Series X. Threads to this topic in the Astro subreddit are simply ignored by Astro. The Astro support only wants to exchange the headset (mine has already been exchanged twice with no success or improvement of the problem). I have also reported this problem several times via the XBOX. Only disconnecting the Base Station for few Seconds helps for some time, but the issue reoccurs very fast.

And yes I have tried all the suggestions to fix this problem. No other USB devices connected, other standards like DTS-X or Windows Sonic, Reboot XBOX, etc. Nothing improved the problem.

Wireless Bluetooth Xbox gaming audio headset, earphones or headphones - are Microsoft releasing any hardware like this soon?

I personally always the third party option for this and have a pair of Astro A50.

The alternative would be to buy a cheap stereo headset and use Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos keeps turning off and resetting on Xbox One X

Have the same problem most of the time when i start the xbox and look in settings it says windows sonic instead of dolby atmos and have to set it up again

    I have an Astro A50(gen3)

I am unable to enable Dolby Atmos for Headphones on my Xbox one

    Hi Felipe,

    Thanks for a prompt response.

    1. I have an active Dolby Atmos license
    2. Launching Dolby Access on Xbox brings me to a page where I have to select one of three “anonymous” type of connection: usb/wireless, Controller, HDMI/Optical audio Device.
    3. However, launching Dolby Access on PC (with the Same Astro A50 connected to it) brings me to a similar page, but this time Astro A50 type is clearly one of the options. Astro headset is also the option you see and select in “manage audio devices” page of the pc
    4. Shortly, if Dolby Access can’t detects the Device type connected it should initiate some kind of an error massage and not by pass the issue, let you finish the setting saying: “Dolby Atmos for Headphone ready to use” and then, going into the app “setting page and realize it’s not enabled

Still no Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround after update

Astro a40/a50 headsets support dolby digital, not dts to my knowledge

Can't use Dolby Atmos for Home Theater with headset base station connected (Elite 800X and Astro A50)

    Hi bladerunnin,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox Forums.

The reason you need to unplug the base station if you want to use Dolby Atmos for Home Theater is in the way the Dolby Atmos sound format is processed within the Xbox and Dolby Digital 7.1 in the A50's and DTS 7.1 in the TB 800X respectively.

The Dolby Atmos sound format for Home Theater on any platform is processed in the device itself through HDMI, in this case the Xbox's operating system and software. The Xbox will decode the audio in a bitstream format through HDMI for Dolby Atmos HT. The
headset base stations (not the Xbox) process and decode the audio formats and then send the data to the Xbox in bitstream through optical. Since everything is processed through the base stations for the headsets, simply turning off the headset won't remove
the base station as a device that is hooked up and recognized by the console, at least while the audio settings in the Xbox are still set for Optical audio: Bitstream out. That may be why you are getting the message that Dolby Atmos is only supported over
    HDMI.

Under Speaker audio in the Audio output settings of the Xbox, try turning off Optical audio while leaving HDMI audio on Bitstream out, then under Bitstream format select Dolby Atmos for HT. When wanting to use the headsets, turn off HDMI audio and then put
Optical audio on Bitstream out, then under the format choose Dolby Digital (Astro A50) or DTS Surround (TB Elite 800X). If you have tried that but still can't enable Dolby Atmos while you have everything plugged in, then just disconnect the optical cable but
leave the USB plugged in, which is what charges the headset, not the optical cable.
