    Hi,

    Every couple of days that my son signs on his Xbox one to play Fortnite he gets the following message:

    We need your mum, dad or other responsible adult to sign in. You’ll need permission by 20/08/18 or you’ll loose access to all contact and services such as emails on Outlook and photos on one drive. If you’re an adult, visit account.microsoft.com to update
    your date of birth.

    I have logged onto my account several times, but the message keeps coming up. I tried asking Xbox live chat - took 85 mins and got no-where. Can someone on the forum please help? Thanks!

    usually what can fix this issue is if you sign in to login.live.com and sign in the same way you sign in to your xbox, it will then ask you to sign in with the parent accnt. sign in with the parent accnt and it will ask to verify that you are an adult which
    ask you for a credit card and will charge you 50cents just to prove that you are an adult, after you authorize the charge it should tell you thank you now you have allowed your child to access his Microsoft acccnt. at that point you can try signing in again
    to the xbox and it will let you in.

    "Ask your parent to sign in" Xbox live sign in not working

    My brother in law was having the same issue he signed in on my xbox one no problem tried to sign in on my buddies on the same network and it would say must sign in as a parent first then he just got an Xbox one for Christmas try to do it at his house did
    the same thing so I signed in as my account and I acted as his parent but it ended up giving him a completely new gamertag new name yeah it's not the account that was associated with that email its weird if anybody gets a answer for this please post it here

    I have the same problem with a deadline looming.

    Parent account

    The best place to figure out what the parental account for you profile is, is to sign in at account.microsoft.com/family and it will tell you any family members that are attached to your account including the adult ones. And then sign in with that account
    when it asks for a parent account.

    If you can go into your parent's account you can remove your profile as "family". Then when you sign in with your gamertag you wil be asked for a new parent account. Either make a new email address for that or try to put in your parent's account again.

    It might be that your account is a child account, and the random account you see on that console is the parent account that is associated with your child account.

    Ask your parent to sign in on https://www.xbox.com and check their Gamertag on the Xbox website in the upper right.

    It should match the random account you see on the console.

    While your parents are signed in, you can ask them to go to
    https://account.xbox.com/settings     and make the changes to your account to allow you to download the game, if necessary.
