    Ask where to save each game before downloading...


    Allow the option for my Xbox to "Ask where to save each game before downloading." I use 2 external drives (x1 1TB SSD, 1x 2TB Barracuda) +1 the internal HDD. Kindly allow me the option to choose. I like having my multiplayer games on my SSD and single player games on my hybrid Barracuda, others on my internal. Moving all this around later is a hassle and time consuming.

    In general, the console will recognize that there is an update (subject to non-peak times and required patch vs. game updates/patches) but not download and install.

    Each game is different depending upon how it loads up, saves, resumes play, if you're playing online vs. locally.

    BUT I believe your actual question is this, will the update download and apply?

    -Each game is different, so lets use Diablo 3 as an example.

    -There was a patch weeks ago, so when I turned the system back on from "instant -on" the game itself asked me if I wanted to download the update, and this caused the game to save. Prompt that there is an update---> Ask if you want to start the update--->Stop
    playing-->download update in queue-->install complete-->relaunch game.

    If there is no save game there, then the only other places would be either Xbox LIVE Cloud or a USB Flash drive. Have you saved your game to the Cloud?
