    Arris (Modems/Gateways): DNS
    It can have a small effect, but nothing that you would notice. DNS servers simply resolve the names and don't play that big of a role in the actual transmission of downloadable data. If you are wanting to increase your download speeds I advise hard-wiring
    your Xbox into your router, purchase a modem (IE: Arris Motorola Surfboard 6141) and designating a static IP address for your console. Those three solutions will help provide you with blazing fast downloads and greater system stability. I hope this helps brother.

    Connecting xbox 360 s to **** TG862g modem supplied by comcast/xfinity

    This is a DNS issue. The Arris does not identify third party DNS for some reason and Xbox uses a 3rd party DNS. this is a Arris issue and not comcast.

    I tried the second option as well and my DNS wouldn't resolve the Xbox server names. I've wasted too many hours of my life on this and either way I've had enough trouble with the Arris so we're going to get a new modem. Thanks for the suggestions though.
