Ark: SE local server corrupted locally and on cloud

Last night I was playing Ark: SE on my local server (saved on Xbox). There was a storm outside and within a few seconds of saving the power shut off for a few seconds. When I got everything back on and tried to load my save in Ark, it failed and asked if
I wanted to pull the save from the cloud.

I’ve deleted my saves locally and downloaded from the cloud countless times in the past so I clicked yes. After doing so however, while it clearly synced because it re loaded my adjusted main menu settings, my save was gone.

The publisher can do nothing because it’s a local save. I spent over two hours today on calls with Microsoft support trying to get it back. After having spent hundreds of hours of mine and my friends time it all disappeared in an instant for things beyond
my control.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to offer this, but if there is any Microsoft agent that can work a miracle and roll back my cloud save 24 hours or so to recover everything I lost I will Venmo them $100.

Did MS give up on "the cloud"?

Speaking in a somewhat related direction, cloud saving saved my ass, last night. (No pun intended.) For whatever reason, my save for Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO was corrupt...corrupted(?). Anyway, I deleted the local save file, rebooted the game, and it sync'd up with my XBL save, and I was good to go.

 

Games wont get past loading save data

If your console is connected to Internet, your game saves are stored on the cloud. Could you try deleting your local game saves to check if they are corrupted ? To do so, follow these steps :

support.xbox.com/.../manage-cloud-saves.

The next time you launch the game, it'll sync with the cloud and redownload your game saves locally.

 

unfortunately once deleted local saves can't be recovered and cloud saves are synced to the latest time.

 

This may not be possible, as if the cloud version has corrupted and the local version has corrupted there is nothing to restore from. Calling support unfortunately will not be able to assist you sorry.

 

If that’s the case it’s a pretty unreliable service. Doesn’t make any sense why they’d take away any option to remote backup on memory sticks to anything less than a 100+Gb dedicated hard drive. The ark save was only 30mb.

Here are a handful of options that could have prevented this:

-roll back saves

-have multiple saves

-back up to memory sticks

-Not sync the cloud saves at the exact same time the console is saving

 

I found this out the hard way with one of my games...
