Ark not allowing me to join friends

I keep on getting a "Join Failed" message while trying to join my friends Ark server. I've tried looking up solutions to fix my problem, like checking my firewall, reinstalling the game, and checking for a new update in both windows and Xbox, but it still won't allow me. I can join public servers but not dedicated servers as well so it still doesn't make sense to me. If anyone has a solution please respond.

Try changing your DNS to a public one

Go to the Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.

Select the connection for which you want to configure DNS.

right-click the Wi-Fi interface and select Properties.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.

Click OK.

Replace those addresses :

For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.

For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.

Hmm normally the ethernet should do better. But yes, try with the wireless connection

Sorry for the late response. I am hooked up to an ethernet cable should I try using a wireless connection?

I've already tried this and it doesn't work. Do you have any other solutions?
