Ark don't update through the Xbox app on my PC as steam players

As far as I'm aware, there's no current crossplay for Ark between consoles. I believe Xbox players can play with PC players, but I don't think Xbox players can play with PS4 players.

Ark released the latest versions for the game for PC (Steam versions) in June and yesterday for Xbox. It looks like the latest update isn't out for Xbox game pass on PC (as my friends playing on steam and Xbox have the updates).

Since on all other platforms the game has moved to a newer version, players (i see a lot of related posts on the forum so not alone XD) using Xbox game Pass for windows 10 cannot play with them or on the official server (as the game hasn't updated for us
for some reason).

One suggestion I came across was to reinstall (which is a SUPER big problem as installing a 79 gig game for an update is ridiculous) which I'm doing right now. I'll post updates when it completes in about 5 hours.

So I wanted to know if Windows has an internal patch approve/release process date for the release of this Ark update or is a hard reinstall the only way to deal with it (and not sure if a hard reinstall is the way to go).

SAME ISSUE with Ark update to version 961.5. No update on the Xbox app yet. Microsoft PLEASE post the update so I can play the ****&$@! game. Xbox app players cannot connect to game servers until y’all post the blasted update!

Not quite so... this only applies if you buy the Xbox version of the main game.

The missing information here is that for a play anywhere title, this must be through the Microsoft/Xbox store (key), and can't be combined with a Steam key version.

So if you're a loot monkey like me, either buy the Xbox versions of the game and play through the Xbox app on PC, or suck eggs. Sadly I'll be choosing the second option, as I really don't want yet another game launcher chewing up my resources. Give me back the days of physical cases and direct launching of games, I don't care if there is a download code.

You don't need to play exclusively through Steam. If he's buying it from the Xbox Store then he should be able to play it on a Windows PC through the Xbox app. However, if you're looking to play it on Steam, then you're right.
