    Are the two power buttons the same thing?


    Recently there was an update for a game and the update was late at night so i was gonna turn my xbox on and sleep while the game was updating. I had instant on at the time, it was 2am, and the update was 30GB. So, i turned off the xbox by holding the xbox
    button on the controller which brings up a menu that has 3 different options for the power and i pressed the one that turns off the xbox. I went to sleep and once i woke up i checked the xbox and the update was at %14!. Im just confused if turning off the
    xbox with the little xbox icon on the console and doing it manually with the controller is the same thing and if instant on works for both buttons.

    Hi,

    Both buttons are for the same purpose except the controller one that gives you some options. Regarding your download it appears that if your console is set to instant on for a long time, it sometimes mess up the internet connection, to be sure everything
    works fine you have to regularly reboot your console using the energy saving mode.

    Xbox One Turns on, then shuts off after a few seconds

    I get the same thing EXCEPT, using "Xbox on" turns the xbo on for a second or two then shuts off like the others commenting. BUT, when I actually get off my butt and touch the power button on the front of the console it powers up and stays on.

    When things get "sluggy", try a refresh. Can't really think of anything for the games showing error messages, is there something wrong with the HDDs?

    For refresh:

    Just hold down left trigger, right trigger and Y at the same time for a second or two and then let go of the buttons.

    -OR-

    Hold the power button to shut down the system and make sure the power brick goes amber.

    Then power on.

    Hi, with the Xbox powered on press and hold the power button on the Xbox for 10 seconds, the Xbox will power off, disconnect the power supply from the mains power for a minute or two, reconnect the power supply to the mains power outlet and power the Xbox
    on again using the power button on the Xbox and give things a try.
