Are old points cards still redeemable?

I found an unopened Xbox 360 points card. Can it be redeemed for a balance on the Xbox or Microsoft stores? Is there a list of what points are converted to in dollars? I'm in Canada, and I imagine any answer is region specific.

Which province are you in? Check your provincial legislation on gift cards - you might be able to get MS to credit you regardless.

Contact Xbox Support directly so that they can look up this code to give you a definite answer.

I talked to a support rep and they are able to redeem the card, but they have to do it manually. Tou have to take a photo of it (and ideally the receipt too) to send it to them. It's a rate of 80 points = $1.24 CDN.

I'm going to guess that the card you have is very old and most likely expired. Microsoft points was back in the good ol' days in the early 360 era.

You still won't need a debit card. New redeemable currency cards will be introduced, which will make LIVE similar to PSN and Steam. Also, old points cards will still work for some after the change, they will just be converted to money instead.
