Are loot boxes a good thing for games or a gambling system for youth.

A gamblin system for the youth. We dont always get what we want and the chances are low for the more rarer things plus duplicates.

While I het quite excited to open one and see what I've got, that's kind if the point I guess. To tempt everyone into buying more.

I think lootboxes in a game like Overwatch, are okay because you earn them through game time and sometimes they bring in a one time game mode so you can earn a themed lootbox which is cool, because you get the unique items and you get to experience a one
time game mode that they may potentially bring to the game permanently, so it's a good way for both player and developer. For games like Rocket League it's a fine line really. i personally don't mind it because a percentage of the money goes towards the prizepool
and as a fan of RLCS, i don't mind supporting that. But when you have younger people playing it who could potentially get hold of their parents credit/debit cards and get hooked and rack up a huge bill, then its not such a good idea to have it so readily available.
Maybe there needs to be some sort of system in place that could offer more warning so people know what it is, i don't know really just waffling at this point haha

IMO, this is such a gray area. Lots of European countries and China have banned loot boxes because they view it as a form of gambling. I understand that Free to play games have to make some money to continue development,
but I'm not a fan of them in general and I don't waste my time or money on such things. It turns into a problem when people waste too much money on them.
