applied xbox gift card to wrong account

My son added his xbox gift card to an outlook account which isn't the one associated with his Xbox one. Contacting MIcrosoft to give me a new redemption code or combining accounts or buying a gift card with a gift card or gifting FortNite bucks that I buy
with the wrong account credit won't work.

So.... how do I combine these 2 pre-existing accounts into one so both are associated with his Xbox one and he can use the gift card already redeemed to the wrong account? I tried adding an alias of the account with the gift card to the xbox associated account
in microsoft but got "This email address is already taken. Please try another." error message. Or what solutions does anyone have?

    Thanks for your help!

    :)

Only solution is to contact support and try to explain. There is no other. Everything is connected to the account. games, Codes, Subscriptions, etc..https://support.xbox.com/contact-us

    gift cards

You can apply both gift cards to your account and they will combine as 1 Microsoft account credit. For example if you wanted to buy a game worth $100 but you had 2x $50 gift cards, you can apply both of the $50 gift cards and then purchase the game (as they will combine both gift cards into a single $100 account credit)

To apply gift cards to your account use this link: https://redeem.microsoft.com/

Alternatively, you can also apply gift cards to your account by opening up the Microsoft store app > Hovering over the menu > then select “redeem”.

Unable to use Xbox gift card balance.

If your son is unable to use the balance on his Xbox gift card after redeeming it on his Microsoft account, it's possible that there is an issue with the account that is signed in on the Xbox console. Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Make sure that your son is signed in to the correct Microsoft account on the Xbox console. If he has multiple accounts, it's possible that he may have accidentally signed in to the wrong one, which could explain why he's unable to use the gift card balance.
    2. Check to see if there are any restrictions on the account that could be preventing your son from using the gift card balance. For example, some accounts may have a spending limit that limits the amount of money that can be spent in a given period of time.
    3. Check to see if there are any outstanding balances on the account that could be preventing your son from using the gift card balance. If there is an outstanding balance on the account, your son may not be able to use the gift card balance until the balance is paid off.
    4. Make sure that the gift card balance is being applied to the correct account. If your son has multiple accounts on the console, it's possible that the balance may be applied to the wrong account.
If you've tried these steps and your son is still unable to use the gift card balance, you may want to try contacting Xbox customer support for assistance. They should be able to help you troubleshoot the issue and determine the cause of the problem.
