App shows me online on console. Turn off?

Bjamer · Nov 29, 2016

Every time I use the xbox app, it shows me online on the console. This doesn't happen to any other friends. I dont want everyone knowing when I use my phone app. How can I turn this off? Ive tried all privacy settings. It didnt use to do this.

Install the game or app popup when opening Snap menu.

Hi

Is anybody else having this problem? When ever I turn my console on and I go to Snap an app I get a message pop up saying "You need to install the game or app for this - Make sure you are signed into Xbox Live and look for it on the Xbox Store"

If I click the search button it takes me to the store and does nothing but if I hit cancel it goes away and dosnt happen again until I turn the console off and back on.

This never used to happen until I installed the February update now it happens every time I first open the snap menu.

I am beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the friends app? On the Xbox Home my Friends section is not there and if I open the snap menu it shows the Fiends XX Online, message pops up saying I need to install the app then the number of friends
online disappears.

Any Ideas?

Hey Bjamer! Does this still happen when you change the privacy setting for "see if you're online"? Post back and let me know!

Turn off 2FA, re-enter the email to download the account, then if the password screen shows up, turn the 2FA back on and put in the app password that it generates. Worked for me

I have followed the steps on many of the solutions however my xbox still keeps turning off. I think that the power cable is faulty as the console shows no errors or anything and it turns off straight away. To me it shows that it is not getting power to
it.

No matter how many games they show off at E3 Microsoft has completely turned me off with the new "features" of its console.

Following the advice from Bestlano, I've installed the Beta app and, for the moment, I have now been able to turn on the xbox one from the PC. It was necessary for me to first turn-on the console manually, to enable the Beta app to re-detect the console,
and then subsequently I turned it off from the PC and then back on again from the PC. As a further test, I got someone to turn off the console manually for me, whilst I was in front of the PC. I then did a fresh start of the app, and was able to turn on
the console from the app. I will report back to this thread if I encounter the issue again.
