Anyone know how to Replace NAND flash

The internal "hard drive" on a 4GB console is not really a "hard drive" per se, but rather flash memory.

On the original release versions, this was attached to a riser card. On later versions of the S and all versions of the E this was part of the same NAND that the system OS is on.

If it is showing as unformatted, that means the NAND chip is failing. It will work for awhile, but eventually the part containing the system OS will become corrupted and unreadable. The only option is to replace the console at that point.

If it is still under warranty, get it replaced ASAP.

I can't see how it would be unsafe. SSD's contain no moving parts. While SSD's will degrade slowly over time with data being overwritten, they don't degrade by just being on, or from constant reading.

You probably leave your phone on all the time, they contain the same type Nand Flash SSD drives use.

NAND Flash Errors (E72 and E80)

Although the E72 and E80 are both related to the NAND flash, the errors are quite different. The E72 represents a general problem and should be checked by support while the E80 indicates the wrong LDV version of the NAND flash.

I would sugest to try the following steps, If this fails i would contact the information provided above by PMS Epidemic to have your console repaired.

Make sure your A/V (or component) cables and power cable are connected properly. Take your hard drive off and turn the system on, then if it's fine turn it off, replace the HDD, and turn it on again.

Clear All Installed Game Updates and Console Cache

Go to the "system" blade

Select "memory"

Press Y on the HD symbol

Press X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X

A message will appear saying: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

Select Yes

Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.

With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the small white one)

While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console

Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.

During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

Dont forget tiling resources reduces the packet size sent from cloud to console. Unlike the size that a rendered object now would be to send. Smaller packets could sit in the 8gb nand flash at certain points in game ready to be called into play locally.
These may refresh as you progress through different scenes and levels. Only my guess and speculation to how it could work. Dont shoot
