My son has a communication ban after getting reported by a supposed friend who baited him.

Anyone think that if they were reviewing the case, they would both get banned?

Block, mute, report. That is all. No answers of any kind on comments like that. Ever. Explain that to the enforcement team and listen to the first sentence in this post.

Although it appears the so-called "friend" was an instigator in that chat exchange, your son unfortunately contributed with the use of
offensive language which violates the Microsoft Service Agreement / Code of Conduct and may have resulted in the current communication suspension.

I know, I am not defending his actions, but if I were reading through that conversation, I would have banned them both.

Simple answer is no. He should not respond. Report/block and move on.

be sure to report the message and it will be looked into. but apart from that theres nothing we can do from the forums. please suggest to your son to not be instigated into using potty mouth as it will end up in a ban if reported, the code of conduct/community
standards are there to protect everyone and will be acted on if being broken.
