    when I installed a game, the disc will spin for no more than a few minutes at start up (copy protection check) of the game but then stop and no longer spin.

    -

    When I had a problem of excessive spinning,I uninstalled the disk, cleared the cache and re-installed. This usually rectified the problem.

    Because of the new disc layout, game discs will spin a little longer than usual after being installed. Give it a couple of minutes and it should stop.

    Indeed, apologies.

    However as an addition many new games will spin longer in the tray than usual because of the new disc layout that they use, so don't worry if it spins for a minute or two.

    For some reason my Skyrim disc still spins for a bit even though I have it installed to the HD. I can be 10 minutes into playing and the disc still spins. Anyone else experience this? Actually, the latest releases I've played do this too.

    Sounds like he optical drive is spinning up to check if the disk is inserted. Some game and movie disk are mildly unbalanced and can be a little noisier when they spin up, and also take longer to spin down. Usually not an issue.
