Also to let you know it's been since the latest console update that's causing it. I hadn't been playing it because the console update there weren't really any games worth playing. And then when I fired it up running an actual game on their console update it smells like it's having an electrical fire inside. Combined with the smell of a hair dryer I have both melting plastic smell/ electrical fire smell. It's messed me up for 3 days now. I feel terrible from the smell.

The update merely changed the way the dashboard looks, it did not make any other changes and therefore would not be the cause of your problem. Software updates do not break hardware. Correlation does not imply causation. This update has been out for some time now, if there was a safety issue with it, it would be widely known by now.

The fact that your console has this electrical smell means it has developed a fault. It would have likely had this fault before the update occurred.

You would need to send your console in for repair.

I would immediately power off the console and unplug the power cord and power supply unit if you can smell something burning. This is certainly not normal along with the grinding noise. If there is no disk in the drive, then maybe the cooling fan is failing.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Device Support no longer accepts the original Xbox One console as they have been discontinued. I wouldn't recommend using that console anymore due to the burning smell since there could be risk of shock or fire from a failing piece
of hardware while plugged into an electrical outlet. My recommendation would be to look into getting a new Xbox.

Hi there, crackling found in electronics doesn't sound good. Have you checked if there is a specific 'electrical burning' smell. If so the a part within the console is short-circuiting and my advice is to get it disconnected from power asap, because it can
cause a fire.

Since the console isn't starting up anymore there is quite a chance that it is broken, but I'm not an expert on what sounds can come from the xbox1 so I might be wrong, but that's what I think what could be wrong with the console

I'm having the smell of burning plastic like crazy it's making me sick I thought my house was burning down or an electrical fire on my wall but it's coming out of the console. This is very dangerous what should I do I'm having a reaction to it medical wise.
