Any word on when the purchase and content service will be back online?

Xbox Support and their maintenance teams don't provide any ETA's on server restorations. It's basically back up
when it's ready.

As far as Xbox Live outages go, it usually doesn't take too long. Try again tomorrow.

Their services for purchases and content are down right now. It should be fine once it comes back online. Check xbox.com/status for updates.

When you purchase digital content (not just movies/tv shows) you're only purchasing a license to use the content. You're not purchasing the content itself. This is how it works with any service you purchase digital content from. Even if you switched to Sony
it would be the same with their services.

It's part of a the terms of service you agree to when you sign up for the service. When you purchase content you only purchase a license to use the content, you don't actually own the content. Microsoft or the publishers still have the right to remove or
change the content at any time.
