Any way to get account back?

(This is for my friend btw) But something happened and their account was overridden and there is a new account in place. We don't know what exactly happened but their account was replaced by a new one (which we think is a hacker). Is there anything we can do? When my friend tries to log in it doesn't let them and shows the (potentially hacker)'s email.

We have found out the cause (and this was their fault I would say mostly) but it was a scam on Hypixel where they gave a person 1 time access to their account for an unknown thing and didn't realize what happened but now they don't have any control of their account (we think that they possibly changed the password). Anything we can do or no possibly because it was pilot's error?

I already went through the recovery form and got the reply that I've mentioned in the thread. Even though my email has nothing to do with my ISP, and the fact that I have the email where it says my password got changed from United States (although I live in EU), and can't do anything to recover my account that is VERY valuable to me is unbelievable.
