Any tips on how to make the hard drive play games or is this a lost cause?

I have an Xbox Series X and S and neither will play off of the WD_BLACK 5TB P10 Game Drive - WDBA3A0050BBK-WESN I just purchased. I have to transfer and switch out games basically and that kind of defeats the purpose of having an external. I suppose only plus is that it transfers faster than it'd download.

Yeah I figured as much but since it said it can play the games because of the high speed processor, I have it a shot. Shame they make it so expensive for us😮‍💨. Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

Western Digital do a Series X|S storage card as well now. Called the the WD Black C50 expansion card.

If you are trying to play Xbox Series X|S games from the Game Drive, then that is not possible. The only way to play those games is from the internal storage or the official Xbox Series X|S external storage cards. The Game Drive can be used to play Xbox One, Xbox 360 & Xbox original games via backward compatibility.

Thanks for the tip, but do not know how to copy the game from the dvd to the hard drive.

Xbox Live disk games haven't been ever been able to play games off of the hard drive after they are installed. The disk must be in the disk drive to play the game. Installing games to the hard drive causes the disk to spin less once it is in the disk drive,
which causes slower loading times and makes the Xbox quieter.
