Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Not at all, an Xbox Live subscription is not required to enable 2FA.

You can try to enable it through the website. Here you go:

1. Go to the ACCOUNT page. - https://www.epicgames.com/account/personal

2. Click the PASSWORD & SECURITY tab.

3. Under the 'TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION' header, click the 2FA option you want to enable:

* THIRD-PARTY AUTHENTICATOR APP

* SMS AUTHENTICATION

* ENABLE EMAIL AUTHENTICATION

4. After you select your authentication method, you should receive a code from Epic Games for email and SMS, and the App should generate a code for you

5. Input the code and you should see a success message (example below is for email)

6. Refresh your account page and confirm that the authentication method shows as being enabled by looking for the blue button that says 'On'

After that perform a powercycle on your console.

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

IS it an aftermarket controller? In the recent update MS made it so the system automatically shuts them down and won't let you connect. The only way to keep the controller on is to have the console off, which of course makes it useless. It's not all
aftermarket controllers though.

call of duty elite should follow your profile no matter where you go

if the windows lives ID is change but still tied to your gamertag then your fine

Once you have all that info, then you can go to
http://account.live.com

sign in there with the Microsoft Account address and password

click on Update Email Address and change that from the broken Yahoo address to

• a new address you can create at HOTMAIL or LIVE, or
  
• an address you have previously registered at
  http://signup.live.com - that is, if the address has never been used for an Xbox Live account - which is why creating a new HOTMAIL or LIVE address is more reliable. That eliminates the email address you used for the
  Savitt account, since once a email address has a gamertag assigned, you have to assign a new address to the
  Savitt account then wait 30 days before that address can be reassigned to
  savdog666.
  

All your achievements, gamerscore, content and LIVE subscription will remain the same with the new address, but when it comes to Call of Duty Elite, I would hope you can check with Activision at 1-800-225-6588 or
http://support.activision.com as I am not a Call of Duty player.

Are there Call of Duty Elite folks here who can answer that last question for
savdog666?

I think it's an internal problem as well. I might just sell it on ebay, and look for another for myself.
