In another thread I read that the TV app on the XB1 doesn't handle 1080i properly. I set the output on my SA 8300HD to 720p and most of my problems were resolved. I never did have a problem with the 8300 cycling the output resolution. In another thread
I read that turning on the Surround Sound(Beta) function could help with intermittent video freezes. That and changing the digital audio out to HDMI on my 8300 did decrease the frequency of the freezes but they still happen. Fortunately the freezes only last
for a second or two—irritating to say the least but not a total deal-breaker. I suspect it will take updates to the Watch TV app and/or XB1 firmware will be required to solve a lot of the issues with Watch TV.

I'm having the same problems as OneOfTheseDays. I also have a directv set top box. Glad to know it's a software problem. Hoping for a fix very soon, cuz I like the tv functionality.

For me, this has always been a problem, since the very first day I've put in my xbox one.

It manifests in a couple ways:

- If the directv has been paused too long, the xbox tv app will get confused, and it will take 10-30 seconds after unpausing to start displaying signal again.

- If I change the receiver to another input (ie, the xbox 360 or roku) and come back, the xbox tv app permanently loses the signal.

- When I turn the stack on in the morning, once everything comes up, it takes 10-30 seconds for the xbox TV app to start displaying sound & pictures

One other thing I've found that can fix it without restarting the whole xbox one is to force quit and restart the TV app.

You can do this while in the tv app by hitting the xbox button to go to the home screen, then click the Start button, and scroll down to Quit. This will force quit the xbox tv app. Then click it again after a few seconds to restart it.

It doesn't always resolve things, but it usually does.

This set of poor functionality has been present since day one of the xbox one release. It would be really lovely if it would ever be fixed.

My setup: DirecTV -> Xbox One -> Sony Receiver -> Samsung TV

Good to know I'm not the only one, it has got worse lately and seems to be just on the Youtube app also, I have the Xbox One X,. I was worried it was my Sony tv at fault at one point but the tv's Youtube app doesn't have the same issue, so it's narrowed
things down to just that app on the XboxOneX.

Hopefully as this is fixed (hopefully as soon as possible as it's becoming annoying) a HDR function for the Youtube app will be integrated.
