"An Xbox 360 hard drive is required to use this item"

I have an Xbox Series X and Game Pass Ultimate. I saw the game "Black" from original xbox in the Game Pass library and wanted to download it. In the game description there is the warning "An Xbox 360 hard drive is required to use this item". Does it mean that if I just download the game in the Series X hard drive like a normal game it will not start?

It should work fine through the Series X since it is backwards compatible and made to run there. In order to run on a 360 console, it would require a 360 hard drive.

I have a Series S with two years of GamePass Ultimate. Downloaded BLACK, I see the “360 hard drive needed” message, when I attempt to launch the game it just goes right back to Home Screen.

I very much doubt that you would get a hard copy or even a refund of the points to be honest. The description for the game on the marketplace does state the following.

"An Xbox 360 hard drive is required to use this item - There are no refunds for this item. For more information, see www.xbox.com/live/accounts."

No it is required downloaded it and during the setup it says an xbox 360 hard drive is required i'm just using a usb drive for storage
