    It said that it can only accept wifi like WPA/WPA 2, and WEP. So how can I make my xbox connect to wifi of my college?

    wifi issues

    So recently my xbox one has not been able to connect to my wifi network. It has before in the past and one day up and stopped working. I've called xbox customer support and went through troubleshoot steps with them but so far they have not helped. The wifi network shows up but whenever i try to test the network connection i get an error message that says 'cannot get an IP address'. I tried a wired connection and that works but i am not able to keep it wired all the time. If anyone might have a solution please help!

    Windows Internet Connection Sharing Issues

    I have recently moved into a college dorm in which I only have access to their WiFi network (No Ethernet Ports). The WiFi network will not allow the Xbox One to connect to that network directly.

    To get around this I have set up internet connection sharing on my Windows 10 laptop and connected the xbox to my laptop to share the WiFi connection. This worked initially for a day or 2 but has since stopped working. Whenever I plug my Ethernet cable into
    the laptop to"bridge" the connection, after a minute or 2 (throughout which the xbox live connection works) the laptop automatically disconnects from the wifi and tries to connect to the Ethernet connection as though it is plugged into a modem/router and hence
    loses all connection. I can then reconnect to the wifi but after a minute it then again tries to reconnect to the ethernet.

    I have tried to give the WiFi network priority over the ethernet through guides on the internet to change their metric value but it has been to no success.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Many college wifi use enterprise level security to connect to their wifi. Xbox does not support this protocols. Check with you Schools I.T. support to see if they support gaming consoles on their student networks.

    @ngocphi: I've just opened all of the suggested ports from
    support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live     and it's still giving me the same message :(

    I don't have any friends who live nearby any longer (they've all gone off to college and whatnot), or at least close enough for me to take my xbox there.

    If I had a wireless connector for my xbox, I'd connect to my neighbor's unprotected wifi. Sadly, I don't :(

    For the Xbox App and Smartglass to work, they need to be on the same network. I suspect your college has set up their network in such a way that the ethernet connection and WiFi network are different subnets, which would prevent this Xbox connection from
    working. Is there any way to get your console onto the WiFi network instead? Or maybe the laptop onto the wired network? Simply doing this could resolve your issue.

    Yes a little more info would help. Like does the xbox even see the network? Type of router being used to connect. Wired or wifi issues. Is it a home network or maybe like a college dorm network. Is it connecting and maybe not letting play. Lots of info

    I tried for hours with sharing it to my laptop. It found the adhoc network connected, the pc labeled it as an unidentified network then it said MTU error or it couldn't find the isp address. Also I used my laptop's mac address but it was a mtu and address
    error again. I've never really used the internet sharing so I might be doing something wrong. If you share the same connection to the xbox shouldn't it connect? I can't accept the terms of use because I used both hours of the free wifi :(

    Maybe I could take it to another place just to connect, but this wifi is password protected, so can xbox connect to secure private networks?
