Am I able to switch HDMI?

If you mean connecting your Xbox console to a laptop to use it as a monitor, then unfortunately, it won't work, as the HDMI ports on laptops are usually output and not input.

On the other hand, if you mean using an independent monitor (not a laptop monitor, for example), then it will be sufficient to simply connect the HDMI cable to the monitor's port, just as you would when connecting the console to a TV.

Are you using the Java edition of Minecraft on your Mac?

At this time, only the Java version of Minecraft is available for any machine running a Mac OS [operating system]. Perhaps this might change in the future, but there is currently no further information on this matter.
