    Hi, I wanted to change my name because when I chose it, someone else had it. Now that the name is available, I tried to update my name tag but since it's the same name, the Xbox page won't let me keep the ID numbers.

    I am sorry to hear this. Because the Gamertag on the other account may take time to fully update and therefore be completely removed from the Xbox ecosystem, it is recommended that you try after a few days. If it does not allow you to use that Gamertag without the ID numbers at this time, then the Gamertag is still present somewhere in the Xbox ecosystem on the other account. You should wait until the whole process is complete.

    If it's not listed on the store on the console then that typically means it's not available in your region.
    The strange thing is that the game is available in both the Xbox One store and on Xbox.com, although I am unable to purchase it. So it can't be my region or else it wouldn't be listed anywhere.

    first it's not a change back - for the system it would be a new change and if you have no free change left it would cost you a fee ! And before you ask, not even the almighty phone support can change it back ! ^^

    Your old nick is blocked for a while, I don't how long it is atm but after 3 days you should give it a try every day if it's available again.

    Available Gamertag no longer shows that it's available although it's available on my other account

    It turns out all I had to do was wait 30 minutes to try again and it worked.
