Already set Gamertag not recognize any more

The gamertag system doesnt recognize spaces or capitalizations in gamertags as making them unique. For example the gamertag 'gamertag' would be considered the same as 'Gamer TaG' by the name change system.

That being said the gamertag 'HyBriD Storm' is already in use as the gamertag 'HyBriDStorm' which is why it says it is already in use.

Allow me to get my point across. I should NOT have to do a RESET of any sort to get a game to recognize the Kinect EVERY TIME. Nor should I have to buy an adapter if the Kinect is already recognized in the configuration settings and works with the game
(but only after a power reset).

Unfortunately, there is no way around this because the system will recognize that this is no longer the first change of the gamertag which is for free. Each account can only have one free gamertag and the next should already have a charge to change it.

I also deleted everything off of the 8 GB one and still nothing on the elite console. My other xbox now recognizes (it did before I deleted everything anyway) still, but now as a memory unit instead of a storage device. I then tried it on the elite console,
still doesn't recognize it. The format says it is FAT 32. Any help would be much appreciated, as I was planning on giving it to my cousin as a gift on Monday night and have his gamertag and everything already set up as he won't have internet until December

It doesn't work like that anymore.

They changed things towards the end of last year.

Now,if a gamertag does not sign in for 5 years then it is released & made available.

It's highly unlikely there will be any more mass releases again.

You need to remember that gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you can't tell whether a gamertag is in use or not.

If there's a tag you want then you'll have to check in just under 5 years time to see if it has been released or not
