Alpha skip ahead Insider update E203 error

Today's insider update temporarily bricked my Xbox Series X. I'm in the Alpha-skip ahead ring (I'm aware of the obvious risk caveat associated with using a beta. When I turned my console on, it was at 35% of that portion of the update, and 72% overall. It got to 100% on both, gave me the dreaded "Something went wrong" error screen with an E203 error (precisely, the E203 00000803 80073CF4). My controller showed connected, but seemed to be nonfunctional. After a few seconds, the console light power button would blink twice, pause, then blink twice again, and power off. It did this a few times (though at least once the console power button blinked twice, paused, blinked four times, paused, then blinked three times and powered off, again, I'm not sure if the number of blinks is important, but my instincts say yes), so I plugged the controller in with a USB-C cable so I could try to either use the "Restart this Xbox" or "Troubleshoot" from the error screen with the controller hard wired. Once I was able to be fast enough to get to the Troubleshoot screen and restart, but that didn't work either. I finally was able to be fast enough prior to it powering off to get to the Troubleshoot screen and hard reset (keeping my apps and games). That didn't actually restart it either, it just powered off again by itself with the console power light blinks, so I unplugged the cord from the back of the console, left it unplugged for five minutes, then plugged it back in and restarted the console. That actually worked to start the update fresh (instead of a white screen update, I got a gray one, not sure if that is important). I finally got to the screen where you are prompted to use the app to register the console, so the hard reset finally seemed to have worked. Most everything seems to be ok now, though the apps didn't actually stay installed. Most of my games, with some exceptions for X enabled games, are either on my two 12 GB external drives or my Seagate expansion card. I'm not sure whether it installed the current base OS version or the alpha skip ahead version of the Xbox OS. I believe the hard reset installs the regular OS and not the current Insider OS.)

Sorry for the length. I know this is long, but I wanted to document all the steps I took with as much detail as I could.
